What happened to Google Trips, and what replaces it
Google shut Trips down in August 2019. Its features didn't fully move anywhere — here's what's left, and what to use instead.
Google Trips organised your Gmail bookings into a trip automatically, then Google shut it down in August 2019. Some of what it did moved into Google Search and Google Maps in a smaller form; the dedicated trip view never came back. What Google still does well
- Google Search's 'Your trips' card still pulls flight and hotel bookings out of Gmail automatically, with no forwarding needed, for accounts that allow it.
- Google Maps keeps saved places and lists that carry over between devices without any separate app.
- Both are already open on most phones, so there's no new app to install for the basics.
Where people get stuck
- There's no single page that shows a whole trip — flights live in Search, saved places live in Maps, and nothing ties them together the way the old Trips app did. (a recurring theme in 'what happened to Google Trips' discussion threads)
- Google's automatic detection depends on account settings and email format, and people report bookings it simply doesn't pick up. (a common complaint in Google Trips replacement discussions)
- None of it shows what the trip cost in total — each booking is a separate card, not a running total. (a gap noted across several Google Trips alternative round-ups)

How to rebuild your trip elsewhere
Forward any booking confirmation emails you still have to your Reveldays import address.
For bookings you no longer have the email for, upload the confirmation PDF or add the details by hand.
Google Trips never offered a data export before it shut down, so there's nothing to import from it directly — you're rebuilding the trip from your original confirmation emails, wherever you kept them.
